The University of Chicago Service League is a group of about 400 community-minded women ("of course, men are always welcome") who meet to promote social intercourse, study public issues, support various local philanthropies, and meet in special interest sections each month.

We are located in Hyde Park, and meet monthly in large venues such as Augustana Lutheran Church Hall for general Program Meetings.

Board and committees
keep the Service League functioning.

Our
history is long and distinguished in Hyde Park.

An annual Homecoming benefit supports our philanthropies.

The Service League's monthly Calendar keeps members abreast of programs and activities.

See our brochure

Our meetings are informative and delicious, with some recipes offered here.
Men are always welcome.

Any woman interested in the work of the Service League is eligible for membership.

The Chicago Race Riots of 1919

Claire Hartfield is a nationally recognized children's book author and education leader. A Few Red Drops is her most recent book for teens. It is set amid the 1919 Chicago race riots which shook the city to its foundations. She will speak to us about her book and about how she became a writer. Ms. Hartfield received her B.A. from Yale and her law degree from the University of Chicago. She is a Hyde Park resident.
